Paula Steigler
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Adult Honoree

Paula was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis at age 30 and a year later she was in remission. At age 50, she became symptomatic and was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Arthritis can, at times, be quite challenging. With the help and incredible support of her rheumatology DNP and family and friends, she has been able to live her life quite fully despite those days of pain and discomfort.

Over these years Paula found that educating herself about RA and sharing ideas and experiences with others who also have arthritis has been invaluable. The Arthritis Foundation is a great source of support for those affected by arthritis. Paula is looking forward to continuing her relationship with the Foundation and raising funds in search of a cure.

Callie Genco
Oglioarthritis
Youth Honoree

Callie was diagnosed with oglioarthtiris in January of 2018 when she was three. It affected her wrist, knee and ankle. She went through several rounds of medications as well as steroid injections. Her last steroid injections were in December of 2018 and she has been in remission since! We are so grateful to Northwell Cohens Children’s Hospital and her amazing rheumatologist, Dr. Gottlieb. We received so much of our strength and hope from her. Callie is now nine and in remission for five years and counting. She is a funny, sweet, sassy and determined young girl. She plays goalie on her soccer team and is not afraid to get dirty or block a goal. Her juvenile idiopathic arthritis has never stopped her and she continues to persevere through all of life’s challenges.
