Crystal Hadnott has completed over 150 half and full marathons and continues to run even after her rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis, proving that with grit and determination, anything is possible. Crystal is a passionate advocate for health and wellness, she has championed numerous fundraising and awareness initiatives in the health sector, making a real difference in the lives of those affected by chronic illnesses and disabilities. As the event chair for the Houston Arthritis Jingle Bell Run, Crystal brings a wealth of experience and heart to the table. With her at the helm, this year's run is sure to be a resounding success, raising vital funds and awareness for arthritis research and support.

Nilanjana Bose M.D., MBA

Corporate Chair


Dr. Nilanjana Bose has had a distinguished academic and clinical career. She is board certified in rheumatology and enjoys the challenges of taking care of patients with diverse rheumatologic problems.

She has worked in diverse clinical settings providing the very best in rheumatologic care. In pursuit of her passion to provide a personalized approach to rheumatology patients, she started Lonestar Rheumatology in 2022.

Dr. Bose has authored several articles in peer-reviewed journals. She regularly contributes to online articles on arthritis-related topics for public awareness and is actively involved with the Arthritis Foundation in Houston. She is a member of the Memorial Hermann MHMD physician network and also affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, Pearland.

She has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2021.

Tomiko Fukuda, M.D
Orthopedic Surgeon
Medical Chair


Dr. Fukuda has been an Orthopedic Surgeon with Fondren Orthopedic Group LLP- A Division of Ortho Lone Star since 2008. At the Texas Orthopedic Hospital, she is the Director of the Emergency Department and serves on the Medical Executive Committee.

Dr. Fukuda has many honors and awards to her credit, including the Walter P. Blount Award for Orthopedics, given by the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She received the Janet M. Glascow Memorial Citizen for Scholastic Achievement Award by the American Medical Women’s Association, and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor’s Society.

She enjoys mentoring as a Volunteer Clinical Faculty for the University of Houston Medical Students and Texas Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine Fellows as well as High School Students through the Perry Initiative and clinical shadowing.

Shannan Blount-Ryans
Spondylarthritis
Adult Honoree


In 2019 Shannan was diagnosed with spondylarthritis, and it completely changed her life. She had to make some significant lifestyle changes and it wasn’t easy. With the help of her rheumatologist and the right medications, Shannon has finally started to feel so much better.

Shannan’s motto is ‘Reach one, teach one’ and she is committed to helping others. Her passion for arthritis stems from the belief that it is important to become educated about how to best work through flare-ups. The more you know, the better equipped you are to get through it – and having access to resources like the Arthritis Foundation is essential.

Shannan is an active member of the community and a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., as well as a charter member of the Lambda Omega Sigma chapter in Spring, Texas.
