Kassidy Halloran and Jada Ruby
Youth Honorees

Kassidy Halloran is 9 years old. When she was 7 years old, she was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Kassidy had to undergo many different tests and take a lot of strong medications all at once. She is now in remission and gets to enjoy all the things she did before she got sick. She is in a weekly dance class, she loves art, is learning to play the violin, and is in an after-school sports program. Kassidy loves animals, especially her cat Jazz-Hands. She loves the outdoors and going on hiking trails with her family and riding her scooter. She would like other kids with arthritis to know that they should never give up. And she would like adults to know that kids get arthritis too!

Jada Ruby is 16 years old and attends CAPA Highschool for visual arts, something she has loved since childhood. Having been diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis before she was 2, arthritis has been part of her whole life. She has been on many different medications and has had many ups and downs. But now, she is hopeful that she is on track towards remission. Jada Ruby would like to personally thank Dr. Torok with CHP and Dr. Herzig with Everett and Hurite Ophthalmology for taking care of her all these years.
