FROM TINA:

WHO ARE THE TINER-TOTTERS?

This year marks the second annual running of the Tiner-Totters and we are really excited to be here!  Team Tiner-Totters represents a broad spectrum of people, here to lend their support to the Arthritis Foundation:  gym buddies, besties, family members, co-workers, long time friends, doctors, nurses and other medical professionals (Cleveland Clinic Akron General), all here to support the Arthritis Foundation while jingling all the way!

WHAT'S WITH THAT NAME?

Our team's curious name stems from a funny moment during my physical therapy sessions. While striving to interject some humor into our hard work, my physical therapist Michelle introduced an exercise she called 'Teeter-Totters'. Quick-wittedly, I suggested renaming them "TINER-totters" as a playful nod to my own name, Tina. We both laughed, and she jokingly called me corny. To my surprise, she later listed the exercise as "Tiner-Totters" in our therapy app. The image above is a Christmas-ed up version of the image from the app. That moment became a cherished memory as I journeyed towards strength and health with her support while awaiting my diagnosis.

FINDING OUR "YES!" TOGETHER

Amidst the challenges of ankylosing spondylitis, instead of dwelling on what arthritis has taken from me, I discovered unexpected beauty in the gifts I encountered. Through this journey with A.S., I've found incredible support and created lasting memories with amazing people while improving my health. As we walk or run to support those affected by arthritis, advances in research and providing resources, let's also cherish the silver lining blessings that have enriched our lives because of these experiences. Let's face our challenges head on, with gratitude looking to find our YES! together.

Keep jingling this season for a great reason: CHANGE THE FUTURE OF ARTHRITIS TODAY. Arthritis is the nation’s #1 cause of disability, affecting nearly 60 million Americans, including 300,000 children. Join our team, raise funds, and help us make a difference in their quality of life today and help researchers ultimately discover a cure.
