Mira Leurquin
Juvenile Arthritis
Young Adult Honoree

Mira Leurquin at the age of 12 tore her meniscus and needed surgery. After surgery all of her joints were hurting, she could barely walk, and was in pain. She was referred to a pediatric rheumatologist and was officially diagnosed with juvenile arthritis (JA). She had to do step level therapy of medicine from shots to infusions and is currently on a daily biologic pill. She has been in medicated remission for about 2 years now! Last year Mira ran cross country and also did competitive dance. She is now 19 years old and in college at Carroll University. She is majoring in nursing with a minor in health care administration. Mira’s passion is to become an infusion nurse so she can return the care and connection she received from her nurses for so long.
