Daniel A. Albert, MD
Dartmouth Health
Medical Honoree


Daniel A. Albert, MD, is a board certificated rheumatologist with Dartmouth Health. He exclusively treats children.

Dr. Albert graduated from Columbia and completed medical school at NYU. He finished his residency and was a Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He completed his Fellowship at University of California San Diego and served as Junior Faculty at Dana Farber Cancer Institute Harvard Medical School. Dr. Albert has been a professor at University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania and at Dartmouth College since 2006. He trained in Pediatric Rheumatology at UCSD, University of Chicago, and was faculty at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia before joining Dartmouth.

 

Jason Desmarais, M.D.
Concord Orthopaedics
Medical Honoree


Jason Desmarais, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon at Concord Orthopaedics who specializes in hip and knee replacement. His focus is on caring for patients with knee and hip arthritis both through surgical and nonsurgical treatment options. He and his wife are both from New Hampshire originally and are very fortunate to be able to raise their 4 young children in the communities that they grew up in. Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, skiing, and cheering on New England sports teams.

 

Nikki
Psoriatic Arthritis
Adult Honoree


Nikki was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2021 and is currently still in the process of finding the right medications to treat it. She is also being assessed for lupus. Nikki is a member of the local leadership board and runs the New Hampshire connect group for the Arthritis Foundation. Nikki is a licensed independent clinical social worker in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, specializing in treating adults with autism and/or ADHD. She enjoys riding horseback and spending time with her family and animals

 

Mimi Hicks
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree


Mimi Hicks is a 15 year old from Wakefield, NH. Mimi has juvenile idiopathic arthritis, along with other autoimmune diagnoses. Though she faces many challenges with her health, she never allows it to stop her.

Pushing through the pain and fatigue, Mimi has been an All Star Cheerleader, high school cheerleader, and has played both baseball and football. The last few years she has been focusing more on competitive dance. She enjoys skiing and ice skating in the winter months. She strives to stay as active as possible and has never once let her diseases stop her from living a normal life!

 

Francesca
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree


Francesca is a silly, fun, loving three year old girl. At the age of 18 months, she woke up one morning unable to walk. After several visits to the hospital and weeks of pain she was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). The diagnosis initially weighed heavy on her family's hearts, but they were relieved to know the source of her pain. Francesca enjoys spending time with her family, being outside, dancing, and doing gymnastics.

Her parents look to the future with hope, believing that Francesca will continue to overcome obstacles and inspire all who have the privilege of knowing her. They believe that with the support of her family, friends, and her amazing medical team at Boston Children’s Hospital, she will conquer every challenge that comes her way.
