 Jasmine Lyle was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis at the age of 2. She has arthritis in her ankle, knees, wrists and hands. Growing up with arthritis had its challenges but Jasmine always had friends and family to support her. Dance classes at a young age helped her feel stronger and taught her how to fight through the pain.
The Arthritis Foundation's educational resources and support have guided Jasmine and her family through the struggles of school and doctors. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, Dr. Joyce Reyes-Thomas is a rheumatologist at Scarsdale Medical Group. An active member of the American College of Physicians and a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, Dr. Reyes-Thomas is dedicated to the treatment of systemic rheumatologic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and gout. She also has special expertise in treating soft-tissue rheumatism and osteoarthritis. Her goals are to obtain remission from systemic inflammatory disease and to provide state-of-the-art collaborative care with her patients and their treating physicians.
Diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder in Spring 2023, Filomena, with the support of her friends at the Arthritis Foundation New York, has made it her mission to keep moving, one step at a time, and to openly share her story of living positively with arthritis with her friends, family, colleagues and community to help raise much-needed awareness and funds to further scientific advances and treatment options.
