2023 Walk to Cure Arthritis Honorees

Tala Lewis
Rheumatoid Arthritis & Fibromyalgia
Adult Honoree

At the age of 25, NYS registered nurse, Tala Lewis, could have never imagined being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia. This new lifelong diagnosis altered her daily living as it was behind many of her chronic symptoms. Her diagnosis came after years of struggling with a myriad of symptoms including chronic migraines, daunting pains, lethargy, and overall fatigue.

Tala spent years advocating for herself, this meant visits with specialists and doctors, countless labs, titrations of prescription drug dosages and the emotional toils of dealing with a physically debilitating disease; but now Tala had an answer, a name for what had plagued her all these years, the disease that had already taken so much of her youthfulness.

Join or support Tala on her personal fundraising page.

Emma
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Emma is 5 years old from Fredonia, NY and she was diagnosed at 3 years old with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Since 2021 she has been going through different treatment options including physical & occupational therapy therapies. She fights through the pain and discomfort everyday with a smile. Unfortunately Emma has missed many days of school, friends birthday parties, and just misses out on being a kid. She works very hard at school and life. Emma and her family remain hopeful that with changes in medication she will finally be able to get some relief and have some normalcy back.
