2022 Walk to Cure Arthritis Honorees

Bradley W. Ornstein, M.D.
Mercy Children's Hospital
Medical Honoree

Dr. Ornstein is from the Pacific Northwest and moved to the St. Louis area about 20 years ago for medical school. He attended Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis for all of his medical training, including his pediatric residency, and fellowships in pediatric rheumatology and pediatric infectious diseases. After completing his training, he started the pediatric rheumatology practice at Mercy Clinic / Mercy Children’s Hospital and has been caring for children there for almost 10 years.

He currently lives in Kirkwood, MO with his wife and two young daughters and, outside of work, enjoys cooking, hiking, and rock climbing.

Beth Windeknecht
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Adult Honoree

After several years of back injections, physical therapy, and pain medication, Beth was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at 36 years old. Typically, individuals are not excited to get an autoimmune diagnosis, but for Beth, it was a relief! Finally, her pain could be explained. She could make the necessary lifestyle changes and find a treatment that works. Beth is forever grateful for the treatment options she obtained from her doctors and the information from the Arthritis Foundation. She feels empowered to take control of her life.

Morgan Andrews
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Child Honoree

Morgan is a vibrant and happy 10-year-old and doesn’t let her challenges bring her down.

Born with Noonan Syndrome and a congenital heart defect, she was later diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).

Her diagnosis took time, beginning as a toddler with leg pain complaints, to later developing skin issues, resulting in a second referral to rheumatology and a diagnosis of JIA. Managing both an immunodeficiency and autoimmune disease presents a unique challenge. Her doctors and nurses at Cardinal Glennon have worked to find the best approach for Morgan. For the second time, she achieved medicated remission on a combination of methotrexate and Remicade.

Morgan is always happy to help support foundations, like the Arthritis Foundation, ever thankful for the support they provide to us.
