 Dariusz, a passionate athlete, ran into physical challenges on the field at the young age of 11. Debilitating pain in his hips and legs eventually forced him to the sideline early in 2016.
The family was able to meet with Dr. Andrew Shulman, who diagnosed Dariusz with ankylosing spondylitis. The initial treatment plan worked and Dariusz returned to the field! The last 4 years have been filled with plenty of ups and downs, but he has persevered. He continues to be vigilant with his treatment plan in hopes that one day he can get his AS in full remission. He is an inspiration to all! |
Dr. Beyer wanted to be a doctor for as long as he could remember. He grew up watching Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey, and his grandfather was an orthodontist. As a self-proclaimed sports nut, he says, “I love sports. Practicing sports medicine has enabled me to take what I love recreationally and incorporate it into my vocation.” Dr. Beyer is the team physician for University High School, located in Irvine, CA for the last 25 years. Dr. Beyer is also the host of a one hour show called 
Larry Scherzer decided years back to make the Arthritis Foundation our primary fundraiser. Our way to give back, but one that had affected him personally and changed his running pastime. He asked for a captain and so it began. I had a general knowledge of what the Arthritis Foundation did. They helped older people with the pain. Little did I know the effects it had, not only on the elderly, but on children and adults of all ages. What I have learned over the many years of fundraising for this impressive organization is that it not only hurts…it cuts life short, and it alters lives.
