Marcellus Northington
Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Marcellus means “young warrior” and he has certainly lived up to his name in his battle with JRA. As a little boy, Marcellus lived a very active life full of sports until he suffered multiple unexplainable bone fractures when he was nine years old. Diagnosed at age 10, he is now 18 and a senior in high school.

Every day is a day to "be great" Marcellus says whether your body feels like it cannot go on or you are simply having a bad day. Every day is a chance to be better than the day before.

Cody
Osteoarthritis
Dog Honoree

Cody is a 9-year-old Labrador retriever who was diagnosed with osteoarthritis at age 5. He is currently taking joint supplements, bi-weekly shots of (Adequan) and NSAIDs (Carprofen) as well as laser therapy to help with his mobility. And if that’s not enough, Cody just had surgery for a torn ACL and meniscus!

Cody does not let arthritis get in his way of having fun – he loves to play with his four-footed best friend who also happens to be his next-door neighbor! And when he wants to get out of town, the beaches of the Outer Banks in North Carolina are his favorite vacation destination. Mom and Dad, also known as Carol and Mark, love to spoil Cody with his favorite snack – apples!
