A month after Ivy’s second birthday, she started waking up in the morning and wasn’t able to put any weight on her left leg. Fast forward to a pediatrician visit, a referral to a pediatric orthopedist, x-rays, and then bloodwork. The results came back and Ivy was referred to a pediatric rheumatologist who confirmed that she has Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. Her treatment plan started immediately which included a twice daily oral mediation as well as a weekly injection administered at home. Since her diagnosis, Ivy now has arthritis in both of her knees, both of her ankles, and her left wrist.
Ivy truly is an arthritis warrior and continues to amaze everyone who has the pleasure of being around her. She is a bright light with a purpose to help find a cure!
