Mia
Oligoarticular Juvenile
Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree
Mia was 2 1/2 years old when diagnosed with oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis. A swollen finger and knee quickly took us down a long road to the diagnosis. It quickly spread to both elbows and hypermetropia of both eyes. Her knee had become so enlarged that she nearly quit walking. Cleveland Clinic's expertise and aggressive treatment plan got this disease under control. The Arthritis Foundation provided a safe space to feel heard, informed, and supported; enabling Mia to be surrounded by people who truly understand what she is going through and for us as her parents, a peace of mind.
