I've been advocating, fundraising, and raising awareness with Arthritis Foundation since 2013. It's funny - what I always used to say was that arthritis is "not just your grandma's bad hip."  What I meant, at the time, is that there are so many other forms of arthritis that can affect anyone at any age, and even affect more than just the joints. When I say it now, it's still all of that, but it's my bad hip, too - and I am certainly not anybody's grandma.

I was diagnosed with "some kind of arthritis, probably autoimmune" back in 2011, and spent years with rotating diagnoses and misdiagnoses. Even now, we've added a few more to what my rheumatologist calls "my own personal flavor of autoimmune soup." Over the past several years, though, I've developed a nice helping of osteoarthritis on the side. Thankfully, I've had some great doctors along the way, and technology has advanced enough to get me a shiny new hip just a few months ago, and it has been life-changing.

When we donate to Arthritis Foundation, we are enabling them to fund arthritis research that leads to breakthroughs in diagnostics and treatments. That's what has brought relief to so many, but what is still needed for so many more. I'd love to have your support in whatever way you can:

  • Join my team, and run or walk the 5k (or shorter "fun run" path)
  • Volunteer at the event and/or in the weeks leading up to it (just let me know, and I'll hook you up!)
  • Make a donation through the big red "SUPPORT ME" box above or the Facebook fundraiser. No amount is too small to make a difference (or too big!)

Whatever you choose, I am so grateful for you.
