Join our team and help conquer arthritis!
Shiloh, a rescue husky mix, is this year's Dog Honoree. He is between 8-10 yrs old and still has lots and lots of energy as well as many face licks to give! When Laura Melo first rescued Shiloh almost 5 years ago, she noticed that he had a peculiar way of sitting and walking. She took him to the vet and was told that he had at least 5 large rods and pins on his right hind leg due to an unknown previous fracture! You would never be able to tell with his attitude and love for going to play outside.
She was told to monitor but that she wouldn’t have to do anything at the time. Fast forward 2 years, while enjoying a dip in the lake, Shiloh slipped on some rocks and tore his cruciate ligament on his same hind leg and required another surgery! Due to these injuries and surgeries, Shiloh has developed worsening arthritis and stiffness. He maintains a healthy weight (although he loves a good pep pizza!), goes on shorter more consistent walks and takes glucosamine supplements and receives a monthly Librela injection to help with osteoarthritic pain.
Thank you for supporting Shiloh's fight against arthritis at this year's Walk!
