Welcome to the personal California Coast Classic webpage for Danny Scanlan. Yep, I am at it again. I am very excited to be participating the 2018 CCC for the Arthritis Foundation. This is great way to raise money to help find a cure for arthritis, particularly Juvenile Arthritis.
The Arthritis Foundation's California Coast Classic Bike Tour is a scenic bike ride that takes place over 8 days and covers 525 miles along the coast on Highway 1. The Tour starts in the heart of San Francisco and ends in the iconic Pacific Palisades of Los Angeles.
Everyone knows someone with arthritis. It affects more than 50 million Americans, including 300,000 children. People with arthritis are warriors - they face relentless pain, a frustrating search for a diagnosis, multiple doctor’s visits and treatment, missed work and school, limited mobility, a maze of medical and insurance paperwork, and the desire to live a full life without the limitations that arthritis creates.
The Arthritis Bike Classic raising funds for research, resources, better treatments and a cure. More than just a ride event, it’s something even bigger than arthritis itself. I have joined the movement to improve the lives of arthritis warriors, will you be the ONE to step up and help me?
Our team's namesake, 7 year old Carter, has juvenile arthritis. As Carter is the face behind our team, we train, fundraise and ride in his honor and in the honor of every child and adult who suffers with arthritis. Our hope is to make a difference and to help find a cure for this disease one day soon so Carter and every child and adult with arthritis can one day live a normal pain-free life.
About Carter: Seven year old Carter is a shining force, radiating happiness and hope which he shares with everyone who touches his life. Fascinated by superheroes, Carter is definitely his own superhero. It’s hard to believe that he has lived with pain and constant medical attention from Juvenile Ankylosing Spondylitis which was diagnosed on January 6, 2014. Carter manifested symptoms of the disease in July 2013 which began with bouts of unexplained pain; now, while knowing the underlying cause brings its own relief, faced with a life-long disease for someone so young is a big task for a little guy and his family. Yet, Carter has retained his silly personality and big heart. His curious nature drives him to constantly seek knowledge and store it in his amazing memory. Carter can be summed up through his favorite Bible verse: “I can go through all things through Christ that gives me strength.”
The goal of Team Carter is to raise donations for better treatments, to raise awareness about the disease and to help find a cure.
Please help me support Carter and all of the others that are suffering from this debilitating disease, by making a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation.
