Thank you for taking the time to visit mine and Carter’s fundraising page. It is our hope that you will take the time to learn a little about juvenile arthritis, the 300,000+ kids that it effects in the US and that you will partner with us to help Make a Difference and support of efforts to help find a cure.
Carter is my grandson and he started experiencing severe symptoms at the age of 3. At times he was in so much pain he would not let anyone touch him. It took doctors over 9 months diagnose his form of juvenile arthritis.
As you can imagine, as Carters grandfather, the level of guilt and helplessness to do something since Carters diagnoses has been overwhelming. That's why, in 2014 when my daughter, Carters mom asked me to sign-up for the California Coast Classic Bike Ride and support the Arthritis Foundation for Carter, so I did.
2021 will be my 8th year in a row participating in the 525 Mile Bike Ride for a Cure from San Francisco to Los Angeles because I am committed to helping to make a difference in Carter's life and in the life’s of other children and adult arthritis patients.
For me it has a simple choice to do this ride year after year. I ride because I love my grandson and want to make a difference in his life and the life’s of the 300,000 children in the US that also suffer from this horrible disease. I ride in honor of my grandson and with the determination to help find a cure for the disease he suffers from. It was that simple in the beginning. I was determined to help find a cure so he could be a normal little boy and not have to live a life of pain. Little did I know at the start of that first year in 2014, I was about to get a crash course on a disease that before Carter was diagnosed I had never given a second thought. What I found out that first year was that there are a bunch of kids out there that are suffering with a disease that, like me in the beginning, no one thinks about and most don’t even know it exist.
Carter and I would like to ask that you join with us in our quest to find that cure and at the same time help educate others about juvenile arthritis.
Thank you for taking the time to read my plea for your help and please donate today and help make a difference. Carter and I thank you.
