Parker
Juvenile Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Parker was diagnosed at 3 and 1/2 years old after a fall, where his knee swelled. This led to x-rays, physical therapy, bloodwork and then Connecticut Children’s Rheumatology Department.

It was not easy for Parker and his family to wrap their heads around the diagnosis, because they didn’t know anyone with arthritis, let alone a child. Plus, Parker did everything the other kids did. He ran, he jumped, he played T-ball and soccer and skied from the age of 1, so why him?

Through this process, Parker has stayed strong in so many ways. Having people that can relate to his situation is helpful, and Parker and his family are thankful to the Arthritis Foundation for that connection.
