Phoebe Nappi
Oligoarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Phoebe Nappi is 3 years old. She loves Panda bears, the color green and going to the zoo! Phoebe was diagnosed at 19 months old with oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) but she doesn't let it hold her back.

She is learning to swim because it's so much fun and she knows it is good for her knees. She is looking forward to participating in the Jingle Bell Run for the second year and invites you to join her!

Amy Kelly
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Adult Honoree

Amy Kelly of Yonkers, NY was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in her mid-20s and one of the first to benefit from the new drug at the time Embrel. After the births of her 3 beautiful girls her arthritis went into remission. When she turned 40, she donated a kidney to her father and decided to make a positive change in her life to directly benefit her health. Amy signed up for her first Jingle Bell run in 2014. She made a pledge to do it every year and has kept that pledge.

Along the way Amy, a middle school teacher at White Plains Middle School - Highlands, started to include her family and students in the fun. The numbers started to increase, and she created her first team in 2021. Her family, friends, students and their families now look forward to the event every year. She really enjoys bonding with the team over such a great cause. The Jingle Bell run creates such a great atmosphere that her former students and families come back now year after year, as she adds to her team with her current fabulous classes. #WPPROUD

Iris Kahn & Shirley Wong
"The Moms"
Community Champion Honorees
Iris Kahn and Shirley Wong, affectionately known as “The Moms,” have been volunteering at Jingle Bell Run and other Arthritis Foundation Events for years. Though they’ve chosen to get involved in support of their daughter/daughter-in-law, Kerry, who has been diagnosed with several forms of arthritis, Iris and Shirley each live with osteoarthritis as well.
Shirley likes being a part of the Jingle Bell Run because it's a fun event for a good cause and it's a family get-together. Iris loves costumes and good causes, and says that being helpful is a part of her anatomy.   When she can combine it all, she says, “count me in!” The Moms will be there with bells on, and invite YOU to jingle all the way, too!
