Bodie Murray
 Juvenile Arthritis
Young Adult Honoree

Bodie Murray was diagnosed with seronegative spondyloarthropathy, a subset of juvenile arthritis, at the age of 12 years old. His condition caused him a lot of pain and stiffness in his lower back and knees. It affected his ability to participate in sports and other daily activities. When he started receiving treatment, he said it was life changing. Treatment allows him to participate in sports while experiencing little to no pain. Flare-ups are still a worry, but much more manageable now with medication. Today, Bodie still loves to play basketball with his friends, lift, and go for runs. Bodie Murray is currently a senior at Augustana University majoring in biology.

Harper
 Polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Harper is an active 6-year-old who was diagnosed with polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis when she was 16 months old. Harper quickly went into medicated remission once she started treatment but after a couple years, it stopped working and she had to switch medication. Occasionally, Harper experiences flare-ups but overall is doing well. Harper will start 1st grade in the fall and is currently involved in softball, swim lessons, Girl Scouts, and dance. In addition, Harper hopes to give soccer a try this fall. She’s a lover of stuffed animals, crafts, and fashion.

Dr. Jared W. Daniel
 Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon
Medical Honoree

Dr. Jared W. Daniel is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Sanford Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. Daniel understands the special needs of children with orthopaedic disorders and provides expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of pediatric conditions.

Many children that have juvenile idiopathic arthritis and other inflammatory arthritis, the initial presentation is limping or joint pain/swelling prompting an orthopedic consultation. Dr. Daniel gets to see patients in the early stages of their condition and evaluate them with x-rays and labs. He appreciates the working relationships he has with pediatric rheumatology and the continuity of care with mutual patients.

Outside the office, Dr. Daniel is an enthusiastic University of Iowa Hawkeye sports fan. He and his wife also have fun keeping up with three energetic daughters."
