2023 Walk to Cure Arthritis Honorees

Gregory Barron, MD
Denver Arthritis Clinic
Medical Honoree

Dr. Barron joined the Denver Arthritis Clinic in August 2017, and is honored to be a part of such an established and respected clinic. His areas of clinical interest are wide-ranging and include rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, and vasculitis. Rheumatology is a fascinating specialty that is rapidly progressing, both in our understanding of inflammatory diseases and the availability of effective treatments. Dr. Barron is truly excited to be a part of this dynamic field, and most importantly, to see his patients benefit. He believes that, at its core, practicing medicine means understanding patients beyond their diagnoses, taking into consideration their backgrounds, perspectives, and circumstances.

Paige Brinzo
Ankylosing Spondylitis
Adult Honoree

Paige was diagnosed with idiopathic juvenile arthritis at seventeen, and later ankylosing spondylitis. Her diagnosis came nearly 3 years after her symptoms began. Paige had to navigate living with arthritis as a teenager and young adult. Paige would describe her arthritis as a journey that has bestowed her with grand lessons in resilience, empathy, and courage. Paige currently works full-time in neuromuscular clinical research while working towards her Masters in Epidemiology, which she will complete in May 2023. Paige has never let her arthritis stop her from pursuing her passions and goals, and after years of dedication and resilience, she is excited to announce that she will be starting medical school this year! This year marks 10 years since she received her diagnosis.

Grady Whiteford
Juvenile Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Grady was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis at the age of 7. His first flare began after a seemingly simple gastrointestinal illness.  Through countless drugs, injections and side effects, and through many rounds of general anesthesia and joint injections Grady has made sure that the challenges will never hold him back from his goals and his enjoyment of life. He is now a thriving 8th grader who plays flag football and lacrosse, looks forward to juvenile arthritis camp every summer, loves scuba diving, science and all things space and engineering, and gets in a kayak every chance he gets.
