2022 Jingle Bell Run Honorees

Christiana Kapetaneas
Oligoarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Teen Honoree

Christiana’s arthritis began with knee pain and stiffness. Originally misdiagnosed, her illness was correctly identified and she began a treatment plan that has been successful in addressing her arthritis.

In addition to playing violin, reading, and painting, Christiana has a passion for playing tennis. Initially after her diagnosis she was unable to play. Christiana said, “I lost part of myself then that took a long time to come back.” She didn’t give up, though. She started playing tennis again, realized she could achieve anything she put her mind to.

The Arthritis Foundation gives Christiana a sense of community and helps her feel seen. She would like to raise awareness and educate others on the seriousness of arthritis.

Support Christiana on her personal fundraising page.

Lily DuBose
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis & Uveitis
Child Honoree

At 14 months old, Lily suddenly stopped walking and had trouble holding herself up. Following several doctors appointments, x-rays, ultrasounds, and blood work she was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).

Currently Lily is an active, caring, seven-year-old. She loves waterparks and swimming, and she enjoys doing gymnastics. As Lily has gotten older, she has asked, “Momma, why do I have to have arthritis and have shots all the time and other kids don’t? It’s not fair!”

Lily’s parents work hard to not let arthritis define her. She is a Champion of Yes and lives life to its fullest. Lily hopes they find a cure for arthritis and that someday she won’t have to have shots all the time.
