Brittany Mani
Psoriatic Arthritis and Fibromyalgia
Young Adult Honoree

In 2019 Brittany noticed a change in her wrists. It became difficult to do simple tasks such as writing, typing, and even holding a glass of water. She ignored the signs, as she felt it could be related to stress or overusing her wrists due to her job and academics. As the months progressed, Brittany noticed an increase of pain throughout her body and discovered changes in other joints and skin. In July 2020, she received a diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia. She has been struggling to find a treatment plan that relieves her symptoms and doesn’t include side effects that impact her safety or quality of life. .

Brittany does not let this hold her back from opportunities. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in December 2020 and is working full time. Brittany regularly attends guitar lessons and holds a brown belt in martial arts. Brittany is looking forward to the Jingle Bell Run, as this will be her first run she is participating in post-diagnosis.
