Alexis Cervantes
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Young Adult Honoree

Alexis was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic rheumatoid arthritis when she was 11. Ever since then, she has been trying to find a way to make a difference in the community and help spread the word that kids can get arthritis, too.

Through painful joints, countless infusions, and never-ending doctor appointments, she became part of a forever family. Camp JRA and Arthritis Foundation New Jersey in particular have been right by her side for the past 10 years. Alexis says, "Having people you can rely on makes a difference in how successful my arthritis journey is, so thank you to all of my rocks!"

Idiopathic Arthritis
Child Honoree

In January of 2020, at 19 months, Jack was diagnosed with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Before receiving his diagnosis, he was misdiagnosed, hospitalized, and treated for the wrong disease.

Even when diagnosed it took time to find the treatment protocol that worked for Jack. Jack takes multiple medications to keep his arthritis under control and currently has no active arthritis.

Jack is a very active 3 1/2-year-old. He enjoys swimming, soccer, reading, space, and learning new things. He is a great big brother to Dante and loves spending time with family.
