When Bentley Millerskow of Wichita was 14 months old, his health began to deteriorate: daily fevers, a rash, stiff joints. Finally, after two months of doctor’s visit, he was diagnosed with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Thus started a journey of blood transfusions, failed medications, allergic reactions, various hospital stays, and finally, hope. Bentley, now 3, is on the right path and living his best life. “It’s been a long road but, thankfully, he is doing better and is finally on the right medication,” says his mother, Stacy. “As a family, and we would love for more research, medication – and a cure!” Thank you, Bentley, for being this year’s Youth Honoree!
