Demi
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Child Honoree

One year ago, in May, Demi woke up limping. They took her to the doctor thinking she injured herself. After the x-rays showed nothing, they sent them home thinking she may have a hidden fracture. After being referred to a rheumatologist and a lot of bloodwork, Demi was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Currently, when Demi has a flare up she has to go in for a procedure where she is sedated, and a steroid is injected directly into the affected joints. They are hoping she will be able to live pain-free some day.
