Ariyan
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Teen Honoree

Ariyan, age 13, is on a mission to inspire young girls to use innovation and creativity to make an impact.

Her determination and spirit were noticed as early as age five, when she was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. She focused her attention and intention towards raising awareness around providing support to others dealing with arthritis.

Known for her community involvement and social action projects, her ZenZone project allowed her to create and distribute 100 boxes to comfort youth coping with chronic illness.

Ariyan wishes to continue inspiring others through sharing resources and raising awareness among youth managing chronic illness.

Nathalie
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree

At age 4, Nathalie was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Her doctor, Dr. Chalom, helped her understand arthritis, her medications, and treatments. When Nathalie experienced bullying at school, Dr. Chalom invited her family to an Arthritis Foundation event. Nathalie met other kids who had arthritis and realized she wasn’t alone.

Nathalie’s faith is important to her. Her grandmother took her to Mexico to pray to the virgin of Guadalupe. This trip brought Nathalie peace and strengthened her faith.

Today Nathalie is in remission. While her arthritis adventure has not been easy, she is thankful for all she has gone through.
