2020 Walk to Cure Arthritis Honorees

Emma Garsin
Polyarticular Juvenile Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Emma was diagnosed with polyarticular juvenile arthritis almost three years ago when she was just 21 months old. This type of arthritis is defined by the presence of five or more affected joints and Emma’s knees, ankles, elbows, and wrists were all affected. The first two years after her diagnosis were an ongoing struggle to find the correct balance between controlling Emma’s arthritis and keeping her white blood cell counts within a normal range. Despite everything that she has gone through over the last few years, Emma has maintained her positive attitude and always has a smile on her face. Emma loves swimming, dance, gymnastics, and ice skating but sometimes arthritis gets her way. Emma and her family have learned a lot from the Arthritis Foundation and are hopeful that one day there is a cure for Emma and the many others impacted by arthritis.
