Co-Youth Honorees

Hannah was 13 when she first was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, RF+, ANA+, CCP+. Her knees, wrists, feet, and ankles all affected by this disease. She has been through other autoimmune flares since her diagnosis. She fights AMPS -Amplified musculoskeletal pain, a condition involving inappropriate firing of nerves which sense pain and control vascular tone, that does not respond to pharmacotherapy but rather requires intense physical and occupational therapy to break the pain cycle. She also has bilateral scleritis in which her eyes cause her extreme pain and are sensitive to light. Hannah has not been in remission yet since she was first diagnosed and continues to take many medicines today.

Emily was 11 when she was first diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis ANA+. Her knees, ankles, wrists and jaw being mostly impacted. She also is diagnosed with Chiari Malformation, a condition in which brain tissue extends into your spinal canal. She also fights few other autoimmune diagnoses. She has been through multiple injections and procedures on her TMJ’s, with more procedures to come due to continued damage from arthritis. Emily has been through multiple biologics, DMARDS and physical therapy and continues to take many medicines today. Emily also has not been in remission yet since her first diagnosis.
