2020 Walk to Cure Arthritis Honorees

Brianna Sommers
Juvenile Arthritis
Teen Honoree

Brianna Sommers was diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis at age nine. She was prescribed a shot that put her in a wheelchair for several days a week. Even with treatment, she was in so much pain that she had a hard time doing the things she loved: sports, hiking, playing violin or even just walking.  Her family learned her treatment was prescribed due step therapy requirements. At 15, she became an advocate and joined a coalition for state step therapy reform, stopping the insurance companies from imposing treatment requirements. Now at 16, she continues to fight on the federal level.

Lori Reynolds
Warrior Engagement Chair

Lori is passionate about helping the Arthritis Foundation and those who suffer from this disease. After her diagnosis in September of 2018, she soon realized she wanted to be a part of the solution. She watched her grandmother suffer her entire life with rheumatoid arthritis.  Three months after her own diagnosis, Lori lost nana but is grateful for that short time she had a confidant that fully understood everything she was going through. She hopes that her role will serve as a platform for recognizing arthritis warriors and for providing an enhanced experience for those who attend this year’s walk.
