Mia
Polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Mia is a confident and spunky 12 year old who was diagnosed with polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis at 9. It was discovered when she was having difficulty opening her hands and walking down stairs, but her pediatrician helped us find a great rheumatologist. Aside from weekly injections, Mia has led a relatively normal life and is currently in remission. She looks forward to representing the Juvenile Arthritis population this year as the youth honoree for the DC metropolitan area and wants others to know that a diagnosis of arthritis does not mean you are limited. She hopes to become a camp counselor someday so she can pay forward what she has been given through the Arthritis Foundation.
