Mia Sparre
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Amelia Jordan Sparre was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at 16 months old. She was falling a lot, reverted to crawling and would sleep for hours, waking up screaming in pain. After weeks with no change, she was sent to U of M Rheumatology. It took a few months to get diagnosed and get answers.

Mia had steroid injections in her knees and ankles and has been on multiple medications to control her disease. Mia was scared, sad and confused, as were her parents, but Mia is not alone in her journey. Mia got involved with the Foundation and realized that everyone in the arthritis community is family and really do care. Mia sees her arthritis friends all year round, during holidays, Camp Cambria and at the JA Conferences.

Mia wants to share her story with the world. Mia, her family, and her friends have created a mission for a light at the end of the tunnel and to conquer JIA for good.
