Vounteers Needed for a CURE!

With more than 1,000 participants, we are looking for YOU to make this event a success. Look at the day-of volunteer job descriptions below, then register & choose volunteer. To sign-up, please click register, choose volunteer, and complete the registration process. Thank you!

NOTE: ALL volunteer jobs are located OUTSIDE, and most do not allow participation in the race.

Day of Event Volunteer Positions

Friday Night:

  • Decorations: dress up the event area with trees, lights, and anything that looks festive. 10 people

Saturday morning:

  • Set-up (5:00 – 7:00 AM) bring the event to life by setting up tables, tents, etc. Lots of lifting, volunteers for this position should be able to lift 15 pounds and move around freely. 20 people
  • Registration (7:00 – 9:00 AM) register new participants, collect donations, distribute t-shirts & bibs. It will be loud and busy, so good listening and multitasking skills are essential. 10 people
  • Elf Village (7:00 – 9:00 AM) dress up in costumes (you provide) and help kids with games, coloring, crafts, face-painting, etc. Cheery dispositions a must! 5 people
  • Start/finish line (5:00 – 10:00 AM) assist with setting up the start/finish areas. Volunteers would remain with our race director throughout the event & hand out finisher medals. Please bring sturdy work gloves as you may be setting up/moving the rigid fence panels. 5 people
  • Water/food (6:00 – 9:00 AM) keep food, coffee, and water tables stocked and accessible. This is a great job for younger volunteers with adult supervisors. 5 people
  • Greeters (7:00 – 10:00 AM) share your cheerfulness with our participants! Dress up, answer questions, direct them to the event sides (registration, team tents, start line, etc.); must feel comfortable talk to many people. 10 people
  • Carolers (7:00 – 10:00 AM) volunteer as a group to sing fun holiday songs the morning of the event!
  • Route entertainment (8:30 – 10:00 AM) bring your school spirit, dance moves, music, etc. and help cheer on participant along the course! Looking for 4-5 groups of 5 or more people to be placed along the course the morning of the race. School colors & mascots, holiday cheer strongly encouraged! 20 people
  • Course marshals (8:30 – 10:30 AM) work with event officials and city police to ensure traffic is stopped in the appropriate locations, hold signs and cheer on participants. 20 people
  • Clean-up (9:00 AM – done) take down fencing, signs, banners, and help clean up the general event area. Our FAVORITE team of workers!!! 20 people

You will receive an email confirmation with your FINAL job assignment the week of December 1.

Do you need MORE volunteer hours?

We always need help BEFORE the big event, so if you need more hours or just want to help be sure to write YES in the section under the question “do you need extra volunteer hours?” when registering. Opportunities include rack-card and poster distribution (October/November), packet pick-up prep (November) and general office help (ongoing).
