Chaz
99.1 PLR New Haven
Honorary Grand Marshall and Emcee

Chaz grew up in Connecticut listening to this station. As a young boy he dreamed maybe one day he would win a contest and get a tour of the studios. He knew the name of every on-air personality like a crazy fan would know every Yankee or Red Sox player.

When he was 13 years old, he got a summer job at a small radio station and that was all she wrote. He had a few “real” jobs along the way but it was just so he could pay the bills until the radio thing worked out.

He became an intern at WPLR in 1986 and worked his way up to hosting the night show, which was the air shift his idol “Stone Man” once occupied. The show was called “Camp Chaos with Chaz” and was the number one rated night show in the state.

In 1995, he was hired by ABC Radio Networks to host a nationally syndicated morning show based in Dallas, Texas and heard in 39 radio markets throughout the country, later moving to Long Island where he teamed up with AJ in 1998 creating “Chaz and AJ in the Morning”, a comedy based top of mind listener interactive show that quickly became number one.

In 2003, Chaz was offered to move back home to host morning drive on 99.1 PLR New Haven. Chaz and AJ in the Morning has been the number one morning show in CT since. “My goal was to get a tour of the studio, so I guess I exceeded that one”.

Chaz has an adult son (“young Chaz”) and was married for 19 years. He now shares a home with his girlfriend Jennifer and his cat.
