2025 Orthopedic Paceline Nomination Form
“It is a privilege to ride. It is a privilege to have an able body that allows for independent mobility. It is an honor to ride for my patients who cannot do so. Even uphill and into a headwind!
Taking part in the 2024 Arthritis Foundation Cycling Experience was an honor and an incredible journey among new friends; I can’t wait for the next ride!”
Rachel Mednick Thompson, M.D.
Rady Children’s Hospital
2024 Orthopedist Paceline Ambassador
Rachel grew up watching her mother struggle daily with pain from rheumatoid arthritis. Diagnosed in the 1980s, when disease-modifying drugs were still new, her mother suffered from side effects from the drugs and developed ankle and foot deformities. She switched to a biologic when the first one came on the market in the 1990s. Rachel was inspired by her mom to pursue a medical career and now honors her mom and her patients by completing her first Arthritis Foundation Bike Tour.
