2024 Jingle Bell Run Honorees

Calvin
Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Calvin is a resilient kid who is overcoming systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SJIA) with unwavering determination. Calvin's love of football and basketball remains a driving force.

His journey with SJIA began in kindergarten with persistent hand and leg pain. As an athletic child, Calvin found it difficult to reconcile imposed limitations. With the guidance of Dr. Binstadt, Calvin has managed to navigate through challenges and is now thriving.

Calvin's story is a beacon of hope and inspiration, demonstrating the power of resilience to triumph over adversity. He continues to excel on the field and in the classroom, showcasing indomitable strength.

Rod
Ankylosing Spondylolysis
Adult Honoree

Rod was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylolysis in 2016. Since 2018, Rod has been active in supporting the Jingle Bell Run and Walk to Cure Juvenile Arthritis, as well as implementing the Arthritis@Work program at his company, Thomson Reuters. He currently serves as the Local Leadership Board Vice-Chair for the Arthritis Foundation Minnesota Office.

A native of Grand Forks, ND, Rod is a charter member of the Essentia Health Fargo Marathon, finishing his 20th Fargo Marathon in June this year. When he’s not running, Rod follows his favorite teams, UND Fighting Sioux and the Minnesota Twins, and enjoys golfing (sometimes), attending concerts, and spending time with his family.

Colin
Young Adult Honoree

Over the last decade, Colin has been a volunteer at Camp Sisu, a camp for children with rheumatic diseases. Colin spent his first five years with Camp Sisu as a counselor and now is involved with leading programs and camp planning. One of the big reasons Colin comes back to Camp Sisu is the community of amazing people. Camp Sisu’s team of staff truly cares about the campers, and Colin is thankful he’s been able to play a small part in it.

During the year, Colin is involved working with various sports teams. He works in IT at U.S. Bank Stadium and during the hockey season, works on the broadcast team for Minnesota Wild Radio. When not working you can find him spending time with his friends and family.
