Join our team and join the fight to conquer arthritis!

Team San Diego has been at this for several years. We banded together around 2014. Our team has mostly veteran riders. Thats because we support the Arthritis Foundation and we love the CCC ride so much. In other words, we just can’t get enough. Many of our riders have a history with arthritis. Sometimes it’s a loved one and sometimes it’s us. There are so many types of arthritis that affect people of all ages. I remember going to school as a kid and having this boy in class who could barely walk or move in 7th grade. He had a debilitating form of arthritis and it was painful to watch and wonder as he ambled around campus. I’ll never forget that. 

We connected originally in 2006 when a friend of ours knew I was a cyclist and asked me if I’d ride the CCC. I decided to go for it.  Thought it was a one and done experience. That first years ride I remember Ed Fields picking me up early Friday morning in a van and he, Mike Churwell, Chef Ted and I drove up … along with Tim Clepper’s luggage. Half way up the 5 around Harris Ranch we stopped for gas. As we left the parking lot someone was yelling after us “Hey, hey you dropped a bag!” Turns out Tim’s bag went flying down a ditch because it wasn’t secured properly on top of the van. To this day, we still laugh about it. Perhaps that’s how and why we’ve stayed together as a team. By the time we arrived in SF, I felt like I had a few new brothers. We’ve been a family ever since.
