Stater Bros. Charities is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports the critical needs in the communities where Stater Bros. teammates live and work. We help strengthen our local communities by investing in local organizations and causes with a focus on hunger relief, children’s well-being, education, health, veterans and active service members, and pet well-being.

Stater Bros. Charities is committed to ensuring that the funds raised through in-store campaigns and events stay right here in the communities served by Stater Bros. Markets. Funds are raised throughout the year from generous Stater Bros. customers, teammates, and vendor community.

Travis Scudday, MD
Orthopedic Surgeon
Medical Honoree 

Dr. Scudday, an orthopedic surgeon, grew up locally in Villa Park. He specializes in hip and knee replacement, fractures of the upper and lower extremities, and arthritis of the hip and knee. He practices minimally invasive techniques for primary hip and knee replacement, anterior hip replacement, revision hip and knee surgery, and partial knee replacement.

He has been actively involved in community outreach and completed a medical mission to the Dominican Republic where he performed pediatric orthopedic surgery and community education.

Dr. Scudday is an attending surgeon at Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine as well as St. Joseph’s Hospital in Orange.

Chik Wong
Ankylosing Spondylitis
Adult Honoree 

Chik Wong, from Laguna Hills was clinically diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) in 2005. Although he had common AS symptoms such as iritis and inflammation in the joints and ligaments of the spine as early as 1998, the diagnosis was not quite obvious in the early years. He was a participant in various research projects for AS in Cedars-Sinai under Dr. Michael Weisman from 2006 to 2017. Chik has been living a normal life with healthy eating, regular exercise, and medication.

He is a long-time participant in the annual Walk to Cure Arthritis and is excited to be this year’s Jingle Bell Run adult honoree. His goal is to bring awareness of this disease to his community and try to empower those affected to live life to the fullest.

MayLynn Fahey
Muckle-Wells Syndrome
Youth Honoree 

Maylynn was one when she was diagnosed with Muckle-Wells Syndrome (MWS). MWS is a rare autoinflammatory disease that causes fevers, rashes, and joint pain. MWS is a lifelong diagnosis, and while MayLynn's journey has not been easy, with the support of her family, doctors, and the advancements of modern medicine, she continues to persevere. Being an honoree for the Jingle Bell Run is an opportunity for MayLynn to raise awareness about rheumatic diseases and inspire others to join the courageous fight.
