Rebecca S. Overbury, M.D. University of Utah Rheumatology Honoree
Dr. Rebecca S. Overbury is an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah where she has been a faculty member since 2018. She has dual appointments through the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology; and the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Rheumatology. Dr. Overbury completed her fellowship training in rheumatology at the University of Utah in 2018. Her residency in internal medicine and pediatrics was completed at the University of Utah from 2012-2016. She attended medical school at the University of Tennessee from 2008-2012. Dr. Overbury has research interests in clinical outcomes of childhood and adolescent onset rheumatic diseases. She runs the Adult Center for Childhood Onset Rheumatic Diseases at the University of Utah.
Owen Mecham Ankylosing Spondylitis Adult Honoree
Owen enjoys golf, carpentry, and spending time outdoors with his wife and four daughters. He graduated from the University of Utah and loves Utah Football. He works as the Director of Software Engineering at ADESA/Carvana.
Owen has dealt with the impacts of Ankylosing Spondylitis for many years and three of his four daughters bravely face the challenge of Juvenile Arthritis. Their courage is what drives Owen to do everything he can to find a cure for juvenile arthritis.
Zac Pendleton Polyarticular Psoriatic Arthritis Teen Honoree
Zac is 16 years old and has polyarticular psoriatic arthritis. While this disease is a part of who he is, it is only a very small part. Zac loves mountain biking and swimming. He is obsessed with super cars and wish every day he could ride in a Lamborghini. Zac has always loved animals, especially snakes. He loves a good practical joke and if his mom would let him, he would drink root beer with every meal. Zac hopes to help raise awareness that kids get arthritis too! He believes working together we can help find a cure for this disease.
Claire Juvenile Arthritis Youth Honoree
Claire is a seventh-grade student with a passion for art and volleyball. Her incredible talent for drawing captures deep emotions, and she plays as a lobero on her middle school volleyball team. However, Claire's love for these activities was hindered by intense joint pain and inflammation due to juvenile arthritis. She found much-needed relief through monthly infusions at Primary Children's RTU, but her desire for a cure remains. Claire hopes that all children with Juvenile Arthritis can live their lives to the fullest, doing the things they love without limitations. Her strength and determination make her a remarkable advocate for raising awareness about juvenile arthritis.
