Scollard Family
Juvenile Arthritis
Family Honoree

The Scollard family began their arthritis journey four years ago when their daughter had an ankle injury that wasn’t healing. After several trips to the orthopedist and a few unsuccessful treatments, they found their way to the Hospital for Special Surgery. MollieMay was eight years old and was diagnosed with arthritis in her ankles, knees and hands. It was a difficult diagnosis to process but they began researching treatments. About a year later, their older son John began to show symptoms and a few months after that, their youngest daughter Elizabeth was diagnosed as well. Finding the right treatment has its challenges but the Scollard children have learned to persevere. They have also learned to be advocates for themselves in a world where their pain is invisible to others.
