2022 Walk to Cure Arthritis Honorees

 

Beth Cameron Bittman Rheumatoid Arthritis Adult Honoree Beth is 44 and was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at 13. Despite limited medication options and intense pain, she didn’t let that stop her. In her twenties, she started a biologic, which continues to work for her today. Deformities began during her pregnancy, and she had major surgery on her feet once she couldn’t wear shoes or walk. She still managed to run a few miles three days a week though! Without surgery on her hands, she says it’s more noticeable. People ask her and are surprised to learn she suffers from rheumatoid arthritis. Haley Bass Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Child Honoree Haley started complaining about her feet hurting, her mom became concerned, having an autoimmune disease herself. In 2019, the day after Christmas, Haley was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).  At its worst, Haley could not walk or get out of bed without help. Today, thanks to medications and an anti-inflammatory diet, Haley is doing great! She is starting her path towards medicated remission. Haley loves competitive cheerleading, seeing friends, dancing, visiting her Grandpa’s farm, animals, and fashion. Haley has a compassionate heart and loves helping others. She says one day she wants to help those who are going through the same thing she is.
