Emma Christofferson Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Youth Honoree Emma was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) in the summer of 2015 when she was 18 months old. It was a sudden and shocking diagnosis, with her mom initially seeking treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital for what was thought to be a sprained ankle after a weekend of exploring and walking by the river in Cle Elum. Five and a half years later, several swollen and affected joints, numerous procedures, and weekly injections find Emma as fierce and strong as ever. Em wishes to advocate for other young children experiencing pain and wants them to know they are not alone. To join Emma in the fight against arthritis or to donate please visit her personal fundraising page.
