Mark T. Malone, M.D.

Mark T. Malone, M.D., is a Board Certified pain specialist and a native Texan. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and went on to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Malone attended Baylor College of Medicine for residency and training in anesthesiology and then completed a pain management fellowship at Texas Orthopedic Hospital in 1998. Dr. Malone founded Advanced Pain Care in 2002 and has successfully treated thousands of patients suffering from acute and chronic pain.

He and his wife, Tracy, live in Austin with their three children. In his spare time he enjoys water-skiing, cycling, and travel.

Samuel Pegram, M.D.

Dr. Samuel Pegram has practiced Rheumatology in Texas for over two decades. Since 1986, Dr. Pegram has built a reputation for quality patient care and top-notch clinical research, having conducted various clinical trials for numerous pharmaceutical companies and clinical research organizations.

Dr. Pegram attended medical school at the Ohio State University, then continued his Internal Medicine Residency and Rheumatology Fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Pegram is a member of the American College of Rheumatology.

Dr. Pegram brings his distinguished career in rheumatology to match the Advanced Pain Care commitment to quality patient care by Board Certified expert clinicians.

Earl Kilbride, M.D.

Dr. Kilbride is a board certified, fellowship trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon. He is a native of New Orleans and a graduate of LSU. He attended medical school at LSU in New Orleans where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He did his residency at University of Texas-Southwestern in Dallas and completed his fellowship at Southern California Orthopedic Institute. He is also a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with an MHA. He has been taking care of Central Texans since 2002 specializing in sports medicine, total joints, and fractures.

As a former NCAA athlete, he is still an exercise enthusiast. In his spare time, he enjoys cheering on his three boys, who all are or were NCAA athletes.

Mackenzie Bateman
Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
Adult Honoree

Mackenzie graduated from Texas A&M University and currently resides in Austin, TX where she works at CM Constructors and volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.

At just eight years old, she was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. It took many years, doctors, medications and injections to finally develop a plan to manage her arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.

Arthritis has affected her life for almost 20 years and it affects millions of people, every day. She feels fortunate to manage her arthritis with diet and a healthy lifestyle, but that is not always the case for others.

Brian Sharp
Ankylosing Spondylitis
Adult Honoree

Brian W. Sharp, medically retired Staff Sergeant, served on active duty for 13 years, 7 months and 25 days in the United States Air Force. Raised in Austin Texas, Brian joined the military in October 1987 as a Logistician and continues his service as a Department of the Air Force, Civilian. After being diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, Brian connected with the Arthritis Foundation where he attended a Connect Group. Through this group, Brian found a community of people of all ages and backgrounds that were living with arthritis. On Thanksgiving day of 2010, Brian began fighting against the effects of his arthritis and ran his first race. The efforts and treatments of his rheumatologists have allowed him to continue his running journey. Brian has traversed over 8,400 Miles and completed 120 Races, including 4 Marathons.

Nathan Harsh
COPA Syndrome
Youth Honoree

Nathan is a strong, outgoing 7-year-old boy that was diagnosed with COPA Syndrome in Oct of 2019. Upon starting Kindergarten, we knew something wasn’t right. We are forever thankful to our pediatrician, Dr. Anna Bell for leading the charge and for his pediatric rheumatology team at Dell Children’s Hospital, who have constantly gone above and beyond for our sweet boy.

Nathan is so special. He’s hilarious and wise beyond his years. He loves Roblox and playing with his puppies. He is kind to everyone he meets and is determined to “make the world a better place”. We are so grateful to have the world’s greatest son!
