2021 Walk to Cure Arthritis Honorees

Destiny Gorby
Psoriatic Arthritis
Adult Honoree

Four years ago, Destiny felt like something was off and was told she was just aging. Feeling this terrible at 33, she couldn’t imagine being 80?

Numerous specialty doctors, ultrasounds and x-rays later, still no diagnosis. She was losing hope when results indicated she didn’t have a brain tumor and was disappointed. She didn’t really want a brain tumor; just a diagnosis.

In 2019, she was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis. Four medications later, terrible side effects, outrageous insurance constraints and drug pricing and her disease continues progressing.

She is a wife, mother, woman, and Arthritis Warrior! She will continue this fight until we find a cure!

Sean Black
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Youth Honoree

Sean is an active and imaginative 10-year-old boy. He enjoys games, reading, Legos, and sports. His arthritis journey began in April 2016. He went from soreness in the left knee to severe pain and stiffness in both knees and ankles. In June he was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. His knees, ankles, toes, wrists, and fingers were all affected. It took six months to find a medication plan to bring the arthritis under control. For three years we did weekly injections. He now does an injection every other week. Sean continues appointments with rheumatology, ophthalmology, a child psychologist and a physical therapist. Sean is an arthritis warrior.
