2020 Jingle Bell Run Honorees

Eddie Applegate
Psoriatic Arthritis
Adult Honoree

Over 15 years ago, after years of years of pain and stiffness, I went to a doctor where I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. I never knew that my skin condition and arthritis were or even could be related. It took time for doctors to get my condition under control. During this time, I suffered from a lot of pain and stiffness from the arthritis and redness and pain from my psoriasis. Finally, medication got everything under control. Family, friends, and coworkers noticed quickly, and I felt I had a new lease on life. This is why I walk and why I volunteer. I want others to be able to experience relief. I want research to find better ways to treat our disease so others can experience a new lease on life as well.

Russell McKay
Enthesitis-Related Arthritis
Youth Co-Honoree

Russell was diagnosed when he was 4 years old. His parents knew something was wrong when Russell stopped crawling at 6 months old, had unexplained fevers and random rashes. Russell hopes to be pain free someday, so he can go back to playing his favorite sport in the world – tackle football. Help us spread awareness, and find a cure for arthritis!

Ethan Duhon
Uveitis
Youth Co-Honoree

Hi my name is Ethan. I was diagnosed with Arthritis and Uveitis a long time ago when I was little. I am 11 years old now. Where I hurt the most is in my legs. Sometimes I need extra time in the morning to get dressed so I can move them around. I hate taking methotrexate the most. Sometimes I don’t feel like playing with my friends or walking my dogs. My medicines help me not hurt as much so I can enjoy the activities I love. I might have Arthritis but it can’t have me!
