Lindsey Maffet Rheumatoid Arthritis Adult Honoree At the age of 30, Lindsey can remember pain and swollen joints when she would work out. Lindsey knew her body well and felt that something was not right. She told her husband, who happens to be an orthopedic surgeon, that she needed to visit a doctor immediately. Lindsey and her husband were both shocked to receive the diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus. By choosing to be happy and have a positive attitude, Lindsey has been able to accomplish goals she never would have dreamed of. She entered and won 3rd place in one of the largest bodybuilding bikini fitness competitions. Even though Lindsey is not in remission now, her goal is to participate in one more fitness competition this next year for her 40th birthday. Lindsey is a full-time mom to 11-year-old Ava Kate and 5-year-old Olivia and is referred to as a supermom by her friends. Medications and weekly injections make arthritis part of her life until a cure is found. “I learned that Rheumatoid Arthritis does not discriminate and know I am not alone on this journey,” says Lindsey. With the support of her amazing husband, two beautiful daughters, family, and friends, Lindsay made the decision to share her story and help the Arthritis Foundation conquer this painful disease. Lindsey and her family invite you to the Jingle Bell Run on December 7th where she will serve as the Adult Honoree. If you are not able to attend, please consider making a donation to her team, Maffet’s Mistletoes. Funds will directly help those in need and will stay local. We need a cure and your support.
