Jason Cabell Osteoarthritis Veteran Honoree Jason Cabell was born in Chicago and raised in Denver. His remarkable sense of resolve, courage and tenacity landed him in the Navy without knowing how to swim. He learned fast and went on to serve as a decorated, active, combat Navy SEAL for 20 years. His missions around the world sent him jumping out of planes, and diving into the depths of murky waters in more than 100 countries. He returned from combat 90% disabled, but injury didn’t stop Jason from pursuing his dream of becoming a writer and director. He moved to Los Angeles and took acting classes to better understand the artist’s process in front of the camera. In 2016, Jason won Best Actor for his performance in Smoke Filled Lungs, a film which he wrote and co-directed. The movie also won Best Picture, at the Milan Filmmakers Film Festival. In 2017, the former Navy SEAL produced a sci-fi film called Shockwave, for Mar Vista. In 2018, Jason wrote and directed the feature film, Running with the Devil, starring Nicholas Cage, Laurence Fishburne, Clifton Collins Jr., Leslie Bibb, Cole Hauser, Adam Goldberg, Peter Facinelli, and Barry Pepper. The movie was shot in multiple locations, including; Colombia, New Mexico, Arizona, and is now in post-production preparing for distribution.
