2019 Walk to Cure Arthritis Honorees

Kim Nguyen Tyler, MD
Denver Arthritis Clinic
Medical Honoree

Dr. Tyler chose the field of rheumatology because it is thought-provoking, requires finely tuned physical exam and history taking skills, and allows her to develop lifelong relationships with her patients. She believes that a multidisciplinary approach is key to treating rheumatologic diseases while keeping the focus on the patient at the center.

Dr. Tyler thanks the Arthritis Foundation for all that they do for the field of arthritis and is honored to be the 2019 Walk to Cure Arthritis honoree. She also thanks all of her colleagues and the staff at the Denver Arthritis Clinic, and her family for their support. To my patients, "it is my greatest privilege caring for you".

Kerstan Sokoloski
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Adult Honoree

Kerstan was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) at 26 years old, after experiencing increasing pain in her wrists and hands which spread throughout her body. After spending years finding a treatment that manages her pain, Kerstan made the difficult decision to abstain from medication when she became pregnant with Ellie, the daughter she shares with her husband. It has been nearly two years since Ellie’s birth and Kerstan has just now began to manage the pain she has experienced since becoming pregnant. “Each day I choose to make the most of the day in spite of my condition and start every day being hopeful that today is the day I will start prolonged progress in overcoming RA. I can’t lose hope that one day there will be a cure.”
