Join our team and help conquer arthritis!

Team captain, Georgette, affectionately known as GeeGee, is a dedicated advocate for arthritis awareness and a valued member of the South Florida Arthritis Foundation Board. Beyond her board responsibilities, GeeGee plays an integral role in the organization's signature events, serving on the planning committees for both the Walk to Cure Arthritis and the Jingle Bell Run. In 2016, Georgette faced a personal battle with osteoarthritis in her neck, specifically cervical spondylosis. This diagnosis served as a catalyst for her active involvement in the Arthritis Foundation, inspired by the wealth of information and support she discovered on the foundation's website. She is profoundly grateful to Dr. Theresa A. Carissimi for her unwavering dedication and exceptional care throughout the past 8 years, providing invaluable treatment and support in her journey with osteoarthritis.

As the Executive Director for the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Native Learning Center, GeeGee has demonstrated leadership and commitment to community well-being throughout the U.S. in Tribal communities. Her own journey with arthritis prompted a transformative lifestyle change, guided by nutrition, physical activity, pain management, and emotional well-being. At the age of 65, Georgette is a testament to the power of proactive health choices. Embracing a vegan lifestyle and actively participating in a diverse range of activities, including Zumba, yoga, strength training, walking, and pilates, she embodies resilience and serves as an inspiration to others facing similar health challenges. Georgette Palmer-Smith's multifaceted contributions underscore her dedication to improving lives through advocacy, education, and personal example.

Our Walk to Cure Arthritis team is part of a large arthritis community — united together to help the nearly 60 million Americans, including hundreds of thousands of children, with arthritis live their best lives. This event raises money to advance arthritis treatments and find a cure, develop resources, and take action to improve people’s lives.

Your support is needed now more than ever as we move closer to conquering this debilitating disease. Together, we can create solutions today while working toward a brighter future and ultimately a cure.

Thank you!
